Reduce waiting times

Marvin Meyke,

Cooperation project equalizes ramp congestion

The goal: no more waiting times at the ramp. Timocom and Cargolux want to achieve this together by merging telematics data and time slot management.

The "SLOT" time slot management system from Cargoclix and the GPS data from Timocom enable customers to manage ramps flexibly. By continuously comparing position data with the booked delivery time window, companies can precisely calculate the estimated time of arrival (ETA) of a truck and check whether it will reach the ramp on time. If this is not the case, another supplier can be brought forward.

"A question of technology"
"Due to the growth in road freight transport, many fear that the ramp problem will become even worse. But waiting times at the ramp no longer have to be a problem. By integrating dynamic data, processes for ramp operators and transporters can be made much more efficient and flexible. "Zero waiting time" is primarily a question of technology," explains Prof. Dr. Victor Meier, consulting partner at Cargoclix.

According to a market survey by the Federal Office for Goods Transport, waiting times have increased significantly over the last five years according to drivers. They wanted better organized processes and ramp operators wanted binding information.
