The 100th Trakker from a batch of 133 tactical military vehicles was handed over by Iveco Defence Vehicles to the BAAINBw (Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support) on behalf of the Bundeswehr. The handover by employees of the manufacturer took place at the Ulm site in the presence of representatives of the Bundeswehr and the Federal Ministry of Defense BMVg.

The 133 tactical military vehicles, which are characterized by off-road capability, modularity and effective armouring, are part of a framework contract from 2015. This procurement is part of the GTF program (Protected Transport Vehicles), which will be delivered over four years.

Protection is provided against both ballistic effects and those triggered by mines, as well as IED and NBC protection. They have flexible interchangeable system superstructures, some of which are supplemented by hydraulic loading cranes and cable winches, and can transport both 1CC ISO containers (10 or 20 feet) and swap bodies of all kinds to suit the mission.

Vincenzo Giannelli, President & CEO of Iveco Defence Vehicles, says: "This 100th vehicle demonstrates the close and good relationship between Iveco Defence Vehicles and the Federal Ministry of Defence as one of our most important customers. It fills us with pride that we are meeting current and future requirements of the German army with this top product. The proven long-term partnership and a deep understanding of the customer's requirements form the basis of this cooperation."

Over the past 10 years, Iveco Defence Vehicles has now delivered almost 1,000 vehicles from its wide product range to the Bundeswehr. Many of these vehicles have already proven their capabilities and suitability for use in the army - for example in Afghanistan and Mali. Further vehicle programs (such as the 280 Eurocargo 4x4s recently ordered by the BwFPS) are currently being added.
