Experts speak plain language: GS1 Switzerland competence partner with networking zone
As a competence partner of the "Logistics & Distribution 2016" trade fair, GS1 Switzerland (
) with the "Networking Zone", the central meeting point for the industry in Hall 3 of Messe Zürich. At the "Logistic Talks", the "Speed Innovation Updates" and the panel discussions, experts will comment on important logistics and supply chain topics.
Thomas Bögli, Director GS1 Academy, explains the initial details of the program in a statement: "The GS1 Switzerland Networking Zone offers the ideal setting for making personal contacts with colleagues and exchanging knowledge. For example, we have planned a logistics aperitif on the second day and invited the Swiss Logistics Managers Club and the Club de Logisticiens de Suisse Romande. Both clubs bring together almost 500 logistics experts from industry, trade and services from various sectors." According to Bögli, the idea behind the "Logistic Talks" is to ask experts about current topics in short interviews. "The motto is 'short and sweet'. Visitors therefore benefit from a high density of information." At the "Speed Innovation Update", exhibitors can present their innovations in short talks.
The background to the GS1 trade fair offering is the current discussion about the fourth industrial revolution, also known as "Industry 4.0". This involves digitalization, i.e. the networking of physical processes and real-time information. Thomas Bögli: "Logisticians and supply chain managers are facing major challenges here. Of course, we will also be addressing other topics such as promoting innovation and further training."
A panel discussion on the topics of "Digitalization in the supply chain" and "Goods mobility 2050" is also on the agenda at "Logistics & Distribution 2016". "With the internet and new, intelligent technologies, a radical change in existing business models is foreseeable," explains Thomas Bögli. "Together with experts, we would like to shed light on various facets of the topic of "Digitalization in the supply chain" during the panel discussion and explain the prerequisites and consequences." The topic of "Goods mobility 2050" will focus on increasing bottlenecks in transport infrastructures and their impact on the supply chain.
Thomas Bögli explains what interests him personally: "We want to show where the challenges lie and what solutions the experts can imagine." Among others, the winner of the Swiss Logistics Award 2015 - Kizy Tracking AG - will be part of the program with a short presentation. The company will present how products and logistics units can be localized in real time and at low cost with the help of the mobile network.
Promoting Switzerland as a logistics innovation country - with the logistics TIP
The Logistics Network Association initiated the Logistics Technology and Innovation Park "Logistics TIP". Until recently, Swiss SMEs and start-ups that have realized an innovative idea in the last two years were eligible to apply for the Logistics TIP. Trade fair organizer Easyfairs, Logistik Cluster Basel and vnl have thus implemented an innovative concept with international appeal that combines the needs of providers and users in an interactive process and supports and promotes the market presence of Swiss SMEs and start-ups in the logistics sector. The results and most innovative ideas will be presented after the first day of the trade fair.
Prof. Dr. Herbert Ruile (MBA), President of the vnl(www.vnl.ch) reports on the current status: "We have currently been able to attract 7 - 8 exhibitors for the Logistics TIP and interest has been high - primarily due to the bundled information content that we offer at Logistics & Distribution. This was particularly well received by start-ups and new SMEs. After all, they also need feedback from the market; it is an ideal opportunity, for example, for 30 specific users - all of whom sit on the jury panel - to give their feedback before the industry trade fair. This competition idea also inspired the prize exhibitor Logistik-Cluster Basel(www.logistikcluster- regionbasel.ch) to emphasize the high attractiveness of the innovative product for the Swiss logistics market.
What is the added value for trade fair visitors? Herbert Ruile: "It is particularly important to us to present our Swiss locational advantage and the generally strong innovative spirit in Swiss logistics at "Logistics & Distribution 2016" and at the same time to further strengthen the promotion of innovation for young companies. Our goal as vnl is to push Switzerland as a country of innovation in logistics. In addition to the jury, there is the audience - i.e. the trade visitors - who can use this award for further development in the industry. With their vote or participation, they can help to strengthen and inspire an optimal connection and networking between management levels and trade visitors - who are the actual customers and users of these new technologies - at the trade fair."
