Thorsten Hofmann becomes Still's new Chief Financial Officer

Wiesbaden/Hamburg, October 9, 2017 - A change in the management of the Hamburg-based supplier of forklift trucks and warehouse technology Still GmbH: After 34 years of service at various KION Group companies, Chief Financial Officer Karl-Heinz Birkner (left) will retire on February 1, 2018. He will be succeeded by Thorsten Hofmann, previously Head of Corporate Controlling at the KION Group in Wiesbaden (right). He was appointed by the Supervisory Board of Still GmbH with effect from February 1, 2018. "Karl-Heinz Birkner has played a key role in shaping the success and profile of the Linde Material Handling and Still brands and the KION Group in numerous prominent positions in finance," said Thomas Toepfer, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Still GmbH and Chief Financial Officer of the KION Group.
"Our brand companies and the Group were very fortunate to benefit from Mr. Birkner's profound and valuable expertise over a very long period of time. He knew the DNA of the KION Group and its two core brands Linde MH and Still better than almost anyone else and played a key role in driving the Group forward. We personally wish Karl-Heinz Birkner all the best for his well-deserved retirement."
Karl-Heinz Birkner joined the Executive Board of Still in February 2016, having previously been a member between 2009 and 2011. Before moving to Hamburg, he was Head of Accounting, Tax and Financial Services at the KION Group. The economics graduate began his career at Linde AG in 1984 and held numerous management positions there in the years that followed, particularly in the industrial trucks business, including as a member of the Executive Board of the Linde Material Handling division from 2005 to 2007.

Thorsten Hofmann (52) began his career at Linde AG in Controlling in 1991. He moved to Linde Material Handling in 1994 and held various management positions in finance and controlling in Germany and abroad. In 2013, he took over the management of group-wide controlling at the KION Group. red
