The new industrial racking from AR Racking increases Waitrose's storage capacity by more than 13,600 pallets. The intralogistics specialists from AR Racking were awarded the contract for the project. Founded in 1904, the Waitrose supermarket chain is part of the John Lewis Partnership retail group. With more than 80,000 employees, the partnership is the largest employee-owned company in the UK. "Our aim is for Waitrose to remain the highest rated supermarket chain by the British people," explains Lawrence Ireson, Project Manager at John Lewis Partnership. "That's why we need a logistics infrastructure that allows for increased stock levels combined with shorter delivery times. We were confident that AR Racking would deliver this expansion strategy in the best possible way."

The warehouse expansion at Magna Park includes an intralogistics solution with pallet racking from AR Racking, which provides Waitrose with an additional storage capacity of 13,604 pallet spaces. "This is a project that has been tailored to the customer's requirements and characteristics down to the smallest detail," summarizes Mike Smyth, UK Key Account Manager at AR Racking. "This extends to the color finish of the pallet racks in Waitrose's characteristic green corporate color." The basis for this is AR Racking's consolidated presence in the UK with its headquarters in Maidenhead, around 30 kilometers west of central London. From there, AR Racking offers a service that is precisely tailored to the respective customer requirements and is able to implement major projects within very short deadlines. "The deadlines agreed with Waitrose for the handover and installation of the system met the highest requirements," says Jim Albans, Project Manager at AR Racking UK, summing up the progress of the project with satisfaction. "Nevertheless, despite the restrictions imposed by the pandemic, we were able to adhere exactly to the plans for the project and hand over the system on time."
