Shelving variants for logistics center
Increasing storage capacity and enabling more efficient processes - with this objective in mind, a new logistics center is being built in Kelheim for Wolfgang Huber GmbH. The Lower Bavarian company was founded in 1998 as a one-man operation. Around 40 employees now work for the supplier of equipment and consumables for the emergency services, fire departments, the entire first aid sector and occupational safety.
The new warehouse covers around 1,100 square meters. This provides plenty of space for the temporary storage of palletized and non-palletized goods and goods that are sold stationary and online. The racking systems, which are tailored to requirements and are also intended to improve work processes, play a central role. Managing Director Wolfgang Huber opted for expert help from the intralogistics department at Beutlhauser in Hagelstadt.
For a tailor-made solution
After the initial contact in November 2021, the team first designed several shelving concepts, which were then discussed in detail with the customer to find the best possible solution. In February of this year, the order was finally placed for a three-storey shelving system, a standard pallet racking system and a structural steel platform. The intermediate platform was fitted precisely into the hall's framework so that the space was utilized optimally.
The order was completed in May 2022. "As the local conditions did not allow all three racking variants to be delivered at the same time, we opted for a staged solution," reports Beutlhauser intralogistics specialist Sebastian Maurer. Wolfgang Huber was very satisfied with this approach. He also decided to purchase an automatic turntable pallet wrapper as part of the implementation. To
other new acquisitions for the logistics center include a Linde vertical order picker for order picking work on the shelf level and a Linde high lift truck.
