Higher security level

Shelving standard DIN EN 15512 completely revised and published

DIN EN 15512 "Fixed steel shelving systems - Adjustable pallet racking - Principles of static design" is one of the most important standards for the safe design and construction of shelving systems.

In order to reflect technical progress, standards are regularly revised and brought up to date. With the revision of DIN EN 15512, a further step has now been taken towards a higher and common European safety level. In addition to the adaptation and updating of calculation and dimensioning principles, the requirements of the Eurocode have also been taken into account.

National availability of DIN EN 15512

Once the draft standard has been processed, the completed EN standard is forwarded by CEN to the national standardization bodies for publication. In accordance with CEN's specifications, the national standards bodies (DIN in Germany) use a specified period of time to publish the standard; it has been observed that EN 15512 has already been published by some European neighbors. In Germany, DIN EN 15512:2021-06 has been available from DIN or Beuth Verlag since June and is therefore considered published.

Application of DIN EN 15512

For so-called "harmonized European product standards" (in relation to European regulations or directives), a so-called coexistence period can be defined. Although EN 15512 is not such a standard, in this case, contrary to usual practice, CEN has also defined a coexistence period for EN 15512. In practice, this means that until 31.11.2021, the "old" DIN EN 15512, edition 2010-09 may continue to be used in parallel with DIN EN 15512, edition 2021-06. This regulation applies to the entire CEN Europe.
