LagerTechnik Hahn & Groh supplies shelving system for marine researchers
Whatever influences the fish stocks in the oceans, the researchers at the Thünen Institute in Bremerhaven keep a constant eye on them. The necessary equipment is neatly organized and ready to hand in a racking system from Lagertechnik Hahn & Groh.
Whether and how much cod, herring or saithe can be caught is always the subject of lively debate when the fishing quotas for the European Union are set each year. In Germany, this task is carried out by the Thünen Institute, an independent research institute dedicated to protecting vital resources and keeping an eye on agriculture and forestry as well as fisheries.
The scientists moved into a new domicile in Bremerhaven's fishing port last summer, and the research vessel "Walther Herwig III" is moored in the harbor basin right next door.
Each voyage of the "Walther Herwig III" requires specifically adapted research equipment. The racking system realized by Lagertechnik Hahn & Groh in the new building of the Thünen Institute in Bremerhaven plays an important role here.
The system, consisting of a multi-storey system, normal storage racks and pallet racks including an integrated workbench, offers plenty of space for consumables such as printer paper or laboratory supplies, but also for complex equipment that is used in the sea from on board a research vessel.
The storage facility at the Thünen Institute in Bremerhaven covers a total floor area of around 280 square meters. The spacious layout of the multi-storey facility not only offers sufficient reserves for research equipment of almost any size; a significant part of the shelving system is also reserved for archive purposes and will only be gradually filled up over the coming years.
