Kardex Mlog builds high-bay warehouse for white goods
RHW Logistik GmbH, based in Kaarst, is building an automated logistics center with storage and shipping capacities for electrical household appliances in the port of Krefeld. RHW Logistik has commissioned intralogistics specialist Kardex Mlog to supply the logistics equipment.
At the heart of the approximately 10,000 square meter facility is a five-aisle high-bay warehouse with a total height of 41 meters, which will offer around 30,000 pallet spaces for "white goods" items. In the logistics center, both pallets and cartons in various formats are transported via conveyor technology. The flexible concept of the storage and material flow solution enables versatile use and offers RHW Logistik a high level of investment security with various options for later adjustments. The processes between picking, packing and dispatch preparation are controlled and visualized by the warehouse management software Mlog Control Center (MCC). The goods can originate from both automated and manual areas when compiling orders.
Plans to serve bulk buyers
RHW Logistik GmbH is part of a group of companies that operates another large warehouse with around 71,000 square meters of logistics space on a total area of 152,000 square meters in the port of Krefeld. The site is used to store and ship white goods to bulk buyers. The new logistics center is to be built on a neighboring plot of land with around 18,200 square meters. Construction is scheduled to start in June 2022 and be completed the following December. Kardex Mlog is responsible for project management, including the technical and scheduling coordination of the racking steel construction and roof and wall trades. "It was easy for us to choose Kardex Mlog, especially as a large part of the technology comes from our own production in Germany and the reference list speaks for a great deal of experience," explains RHW project manager Martin Lentz.
The scope of supply includes five Kardex Mlog MSingle B 1000/41-ZT storage and retrieval machines with aisle equipment and automatic control, a pallet conveyor system with around 175 drives and automatic control as well as a carton conveyor system with depalletizing station, two floor loading stations and eight packing stations. Kardex Mlog is also supplying two high-speed doors and two fully automatic stretchers. The MLOG Control Center (MCC) including system visualization MVisu, material flow control MFlow and warehouse management MWMS round off the comprehensive package.
