Fressnapf invests in the port of Duisburg

Krefeld/Duisburg, 04.03.2016 - The Fressnapf Group, Europe's market leader in the pet supplies industry, is further expanding its presence around its company headquarters in Krefeld: Together with a leading international real estate group, a new logistics center is to be built at logport I in Duisburg-Rheinhausen in 2016.
Fressnapf is planning to set up an import warehouse there, particularly for goods from Asia and North America. Duisburg was chosen as the location due to the optimal networking of the Port of Duisburg and its role as a leading logistics hub in Central Europe.
The future logistics branch is a further building block for Fressnapf's continuing growth course: "The new import warehouse offers us the best conditions for our ambitious goals," says Alfred Glander, Managing Director for Goods, Logistics and Cross-Channel Marketing, "in particular the flow of goods for our growth in the private label sector will benefit greatly from this."
The new logistics center for Fressnapf is to be built on the vacant site on Europaallee. This was previously intended for the Talke company, which has decided not to pursue its plans in Duisburg.
"Together with Talke, we have found a solution that allows the site to be used at short notice. With its trimodal infrastructure, logport offers ideal conditions for Fressnapf's new import hub. The group of companies is growing dynamically. We are pleased to be able to provide logistical support for this development," says Erich Staake, Chairman of the Executive Board of Duisburger Hafen AG.
Fressnapf intends to create up to 150 jobs at the new logistics site - initially in two-shift operation and later in three-shift operation. Subject to official approval, construction of the logistics center will begin this year so that Fressnapf can move in as soon as possible.
