Storage- and racking systems
Budweiser expands with SSI Schäfer
The contract was awarded as a follow-up project. Back in 2009, SSI Schaefer implemented a 3-aisle automated high-bay warehouse with direct production connection for Budweiser. The system layout at that time was already designed as a future-proof solution that would grow with the upcoming expansion.
With the new project, SSI Schaefer will develop a second site at the brewery's headquarters. There, the intralogistics specialists will build a new 7-aisle high-bay warehouse (HBW) with more than 19,000 pallet spaces. Storage and retrieval machines (SRMs) of the latest Exyz generation from SSI Schaefer ensure fast, energy-efficient processes with more than 160 pallet storage and 280 pallet retrieval operations per hour. In addition, the existing system built in 2009 is integrated into coordinated material flows with non-reactive product transportation.
The connection between the production building and the new distribution center is made via a road-spanning bridge with an electric monorail system (EMS). Another EMS with 21 vehicles will transport pallets between the HBW pre-zone and the dispatch area in the new distribution center. The systems in the existing buildings will also be connected to the conveyor system. In addition to the approximately 730 conveyor technology components required, SSI Schaefer is also installing a pallet inspection station and empties check, pallet changers and a new material flow computer.
