Mix of five shelving techniques
AR racking systems in thyssenkrupp's new "Smart Warehouse"
In February 2020, Thyssenkrupp Elevator put its first "smart warehouse" for spare parts into operation in San Fernando de Henares, Spain. The racking technology from AR Racking is also part of the optimization of the material flow.
Built for customer service in Spain, Portugal and Italy, intelligent software-supported systems are to improve the logistics process to such an extent that delivery times for spare parts can be reduced by 20 percent and the distances previously traveled by service technicians by 10 percent.
The racking technology from AR Racking in Zamudio, Spain, is also part of the optimization of the material flow. The intralogistics company has installed a mix of five systems at Thyssenkrupp Elevator: "AR PAL", consisting of conventional pallet racking, "AR Live Storage" live pallet racking, cable drum racking, cantilever racking and "AR LS" long-span racking. Ignacio Pérez, Supply Chain Manager at Thyssenkrupp Elevator, emphasizes: "The combination of storage systems from AR Racking enables us to immediately localize stored goods and provides us with the basic structure for accelerating loading and unloading processes as well as for seamless control of current stock levels."
The Smart Warehouse from Thyssenkrupp Elevator is 6,853 square meters in size and offers 6,288 storage locations for pallets weighing up to 500 kilograms each. These are mainly divided between the AR-PAL and 50 storage positions on the AR live storage system from AR Racking. The AR-PAL pallet racks, which are operated by forklift trucks or manually, are equipped with loading levels made of grating. At the ends, additional grating protects pallets from falling. Each storage position has pallet stops and each upright has collision protection. The AR live storage racks are double-deep, equipped with gravity roller conveyors and are also operated using industrial trucks.

AR Racking installs shelving mix for packaging specialists
AR Racking has built a new pallet warehouse for Igamo Packaging, a specialty packaging company based in Legutio (Spain).
The cable drum rack has 116 holders, each with a load capacity of 100 to a maximum of 2,000 kilograms. 240 linear meters of cantilever racking accommodate long goods, bulk goods and other bulky materials. All loading levels are equipped with mobile stops and three out of five with grating levels. The AR-LS wide span shelving consists of five modules and is used for picking small or medium-sized unit loads. This shelving unit is also constructed with gratings.
The new Smart Warehouse from Thyssenkrupp Elevator can store up to 9,800 different items. "Our solution is a successful example of a high degree of individuality in warehouse logistics," says Alfonso Peña, Project Manager at AR Racking, "we tailored our systems precisely to the specific requirements profile of our customer." This involved not only the storage systems themselves, but also a comprehensive, well thought-out range of accessories.
