AR Racking installs pallet racking system at Conforama

The French furniture retail group Conforama, which has furniture stores in eight European countries, has recently put a new warehouse into operation in Majadahonda near Madrid, Spain. The racking technology installed there was supplied by AR Racking from Zamudio, also in Spain. The intralogistics specialist has installed its "AR PAL" system on an area of 3,500 square meters: Steel racking with height-adjustable loading levels to accommodate 1,415 pallets. The system is operated using industrial trucks or manually.

"Our Group is expanding on the Iberian Peninsula," says Xavier Murillo from Conforama's Market Development department, "in the financial year before last alone, we strengthened our presence in Spain and Portugal by opening six new stores." The new warehouse is part of this corporate expansion and accommodates a variety of the Conforama range, such as furniture and home accessories: Products that vary greatly in terms of size and weight.

"The flexibly mountable AR PAL pallet racking system allows us to make optimum use of our storage space," says Murillo happily. Joan Cerrato, project manager at AR Racking, explains a special feature: "We built a picking zone with pull-out shelves for Conforama." For this purpose, the loading levels near the floor were fitted with gratings or chipboard using "TM 55" pallet racking lowers. This makes access to the pallet containers simple and time-saving.
