Asics relies on pick robots from Magazino

The Japanese sporting goods manufacturer Asics is using mobile picking robots at its European Distribution Center in Krefeld. Asics wants to automate the manual picking process to a greater extent and reduce the workload for employees.

Thanks to 3D camera technology, sensors and laser scanners, the TORU picking robot works autonomously and is therefore also ready for use at weekends or at night. In this way, TORU cushions the online retailer's order peaks and improves customer service by processing orders quickly. Michael Gryszko-Prattes, Head of European Distribution Center at Asics, confirms this: "With the Magazino robots, we can not only better cover the increasing order volume and ensure our flexibility in automation, but also support our employees in the EDC in quickly storing and retrieving orders - especially for very small orders."

The robot is connected to Asics' warehouse management system and a local and global cloud via Wi-Fi. Through the additional use of artificial intelligence, TORU learns from its experiences every day and thus improves its own performance and robustness.

In addition to Asics, Magazino robots are also used by logistics service provider Fiege and online platform Zalando.
