Spedition Stähler grows with WMS from EPG

With the construction of the new 5,000 m² warehouse at the Limburg site, Spedition Stähler also decided to introduce a warehouse management system. The choice fell on the EPG | LFS warehouse management system from EPG (Ehrhardt + Partner Group).

The company uses LFS to manage incoming and outgoing goods processes, putting an end to the use of paper lists. By modernizing its warehouse management, Stähler was also able to significantly increase its customer base within a very short space of time.

"We chose LFS primarily because of EPG's innovative strength. We wanted a solution that would help us to grow in the long term. Compared to other systems on the market, LFS is the most favorable in this respect and for our requirements," says Egon Bürger, Managing Director of Spedition Stähler. "The new warehouse is the heart of the company. That's why it's important to rely on state-of-the-art and innovative technologies here too, in order to provide future-oriented services for our customers."

LFS provides dynamic space segmentation in the new, twelve-meter-high warehouse. The 5,000 m² storage area has 5,000 rack spaces for pallets. The aim is to handle the goods as quickly as possible. "Before the introduction of LFS, a maximum of two people in the warehouse knew where each item was located. There was no location labeling and access times were far too slow. There were also challenges with the allocation of batches," continues Egon Bürger. Now, incoming pallets are processed, labeled and assigned to a unique storage location with the help of a mobile workstation system - also from EPG. In theory, every employee has an overview of the current stock levels and incoming orders at all times. Stähler also benefits from the integrated LFS module for invoicing logistics services, which further optimizes the invoicing process for its customers.

Growing customer base

The investment has already paid off: since the introduction of LFS, Stähler has already significantly expanded its customer base. And further growth is also a top priority for the future. "Spedition Stähler is the perfect example of how our software solutions are so flexible that they fit every requirement. Regardless of whether it's a medium-sized company or a large corporation," says Dennis Schönherr, Project Manager and Logistics Consultant at EPG. "Because - and this is often the most important thing - our systems simply grow with you and can be adapted at any time. The standard version of LFS is already so sophisticated that many functions are available without any additional programming effort." Spedition Stähler, for example, simply activated its new clients independently and was able to work productively within a very short time.
