Online retailer Baur relies on inconsoWMS
In Sonnefeld, online retailer Baur relies on the Warehouse Management System from logistics software specialist inconso.
In March 2020, the first parcel left the modernized logistics site in Sonnefeld after extensive conversion and expansion measures were completed on schedule. The Baur Group had invested around 20 million euros in further logistics processing for the Otto Group in Upper Franconia. Since then, parcels have been sent from Sonnefeld to customers of OTTO, the Baur Group and the Unito retail brands in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. By the end of the year, more than 500 employees will have shipped around 25 million items - mainly textiles, shoes and jewelry. This corresponds to around ten million parcels or shipping bags sent.
The service division of the Baur Group has further expanded its logistics activities for the Otto Group with Sonnefeld in order to be able to meet the increasing handling volumes within the Group. The traditional Altenkunstadt site had reached its capacity limits after the entire product range of the rapidly expanding fashion retailer ABOUT YOU was successfully delivered from there throughout Europe. Another advantage of the commissioning of Sonnefeld is that Altenkunstadt now has reserves for further planned volume growth within the services division.
The solution is based on inconsoWMS, which has already proven itself in Altenkunstadt and has been optimized for the Baur process flows. Some of the processes had to be adapted and changed. In detail: With 260,000 storage locations in the picking warehouse and 305,000 storage locations in the reserve warehouse, the system architecture is largely based on the highly optimized processes in Altenkunstadt. Order data is continuously transferred to the WMS; orders are planned in waves using a highly flexible order management system. Part of the system architecture is a sorter that supports automated order processing. The new location in the dispatch area was also designed for efficient and user-friendly processes using put-to-light.
