In four central warehouses
EGLO Leuchten GmbH relies on SAP EWM from Knapp
EGLO Leuchten GmbH, the global market leader for home and outdoor lighting, modernized its warehouse management system in its four central warehouses in Europe with SAP EWM by Knapp.
Knapp IT Solutions, the Knapp Group's competence center for SAP Extended Warehouse Management solutions, reaalized and implemented the logistics software as a flexible template solution.
With a current product range of around 4,000 items and 80,000 new products produced every day, EGLO illuminates its customers. Behind this is an integrated logistics network with a high level of delivery service. In order to make the processes in the four central warehouses in Austria, Germany, the Netherlands and Hungary more flexible, EGLO decided to modernize its warehouse management system with SAP EWM by Knapp.
"Logistics plays a key role in our organization and our steady growth. We are constantly investing in optimizing our production and supply chain, perfecting processes and building new warehouses. To create a harmonized SAP end-to-end solution for this, we opted for SAP EWM by Knapp. In the course of the joint implementation phase with Knapp, our SAP team has built up expertise in working with SAP EWM, which is important for us in the operation and further development of the solution," explains Andreas Moser, Extended Group Management Logistics EGLO Leuchten GmbH.
The template solution with SAP EWM by Knapp including material flow control (MFS) replaces a non-SAP warehouse management system in the warehouses in Pill, Austria, Pásztó, Hungary, and Oosterhout, Netherlands, as part of a retrofit project. The modular design of the SAP EWM template integrates the existing systems from various logistics automation providers in these three warehouses into the new system landscape. In addition, SAP EWM by Knapp was also introduced as a warehouse management system at the new site in Magdeburg, Germany. With a warehouse and logistics area of 26 hectares and a high-bay warehouse with storage space for around 77,000 pallets for home lighting, it is the company's largest finished goods warehouse.
"Following a detailed analysis of the logistics processes and workflows for the new warehouse in Magdeburg and the three existing central warehouses, we implemented SAP EWM by Knapp as a modular template solution for EGLO. This variant not only enables efficient implementation of SAP EWM in the current four central warehouses, but is also flexible and therefore future-proof in order to react to market changes and any expansions in EGLO's network of locations," reports Gerald Lassau, Managing Director of Knapp IT Solutions GmbH.
The template solution is also tailored to EGLO's increasing sales activities via online retailers and its own online store. The e-commerce business requires particular flexibility in logistics processes, as shipping service providers and online stores have individual intralogistics requirements. SAP® EWM by Knapp therefore implements the individual sales processes of the respective online retailers, from order creation and picking to packing and shipping.
Following the go-live of the new software solution at the locations in Pill, Austria, in May 2020 and Magdeburg, Germany, in March 2021, the branches in Oosterhout, Netherlands, and Pásztó, Hungary, will follow in 2022 and 2024 respectively.
