SICK expands safety portfolio with radar solution

SICK is adding radar to its portfolio for hazardous area monitoring: radar technology is particularly impressive in harsh environments with its high availability. This is why SICK is including the world's first safe radar system developed by its Italian partner Inxpect S.p.A. as safeRS in its range from the fall.

Optoelectronic protective devices can reach their physical limits, particularly in harsh environments due to interference, especially with clouds of dirt. This is why SICK is now expanding its portfolio to include safety solutions with robust radar technology for reliable person detection in high productivity and demanding environmental conditions.

For safe collaboration between humans and robots
safeRS is a non-contact 3D protective device based on the LBK system from Inxpect, the world's first safe radar system with Performance Level d & SIL 2 in accordance with ISO 13849-1 & IEC 62061, according to the company. safeRS enables the safeguarding of hazardous areas in a wide range of stationary applications. Automated machines or robots are able to switch to safe mode as soon as people enter or remain in the safeguarded area.

"Immediate access to safe radar sensor technology"
"Know-how in new technologies and expert knowledge in intensive safety applications is an ideal combination. Inxpect's start-up mentality and SICK's innovative strength take safety to a new dimension. The worldwide availability of hundreds of SICK safety specialists gives our customers immediate access to Inxpect's safe radar sensor technology and thus creates safe productivity," explains Berthold Ketterer, Senior Vice President Industrial Safety at SICK AG.
