The Kamen-based company had already imposed an export ban on its products to Russia and Belarus on March 3.

"We are following the developments in Ukraine with great dismay. This war not only threatens the people on the ground, it is also an attack on all the principles of our international peace order," says Achim Dries, CEO of the VAHLE Group. In order to provide rapid assistance to those affected, the Kamen-based systems supplier has decided to support the Ukraine relief efforts of Caritas international, the aid organization of the German Caritas charity.

On the initiative of the employees, money was collected for the victims of the war at a works meeting on Monday. This raised 2,100 euros. Paul Vahle GmbH & Co KG topped up this sum to 25,000 euros. Dries emphasized that "there was an immediate consensus throughout the company to do our utmost to provide financial support as quickly as possible."

Caritas Germany organizes hot meals and sheltered sleeping places for internally displaced persons in its 19 Caritas centers in Ukraine. On site, psychologists and social workers take care of people traumatized by war. In addition, packages with food and hygiene products are distributed and safe transportation of displaced families to their relatives is arranged.
