Bonfiglioli launches new production line for electromobility

Bonfiglioli, manufacturer of transmission housings, geared motors and drive systems, has opened its new production line for electromobility in Forli, Italy. In future, electric axles for drivetrains and wheel drives of various sizes will be produced there.

The new plant covers around 10,000 square meters and was built in just twelve months. To match the plant, Bonfiglioli also built a new environmentally friendly building with complete LED lighting and a photovoltaic system for self-consumption on the roof.

The building also has a compressor heat recovery system to achieve energy savings and generation in accordance with energy class A2. The additional building was integrated into the existing plant. This already produces around 300,000 products per year. "This new and innovative plant is future-oriented and consolidates one of our main strategic pillars - the development of electromobility solutions - by leveraging the existing decades-old competence center in Forlì with a focus on mobile machinery," says Fausto Carboni, CEO of the Bonfiglioli Group.

Industry 4.0 technologies such as collaborative robots, driverless transport systems, sensors, image processing systems and interactive work instruction systems are used to optimize the production process. Innovative test benches - such as the double vibration test - continuously ensure high-quality products.
