B+K Twister Plus® pinch bags with 30% regranulate

Pencil pouches are typically used for products such as kitchen rolls, toilet paper, wet wipes or children's diapers. Bischof + Klein alone sells over 300 million of these every year. Not only material savings through thickness reduction, but also the use of regranulates are important measures for making this standard packaging sustainable and conserving resources. In the first step, the thickness was reduced to up to 25 µm. The use of polyethylene plastic was reduced by 35% compared to commercially available, comparable packaging.

In the second step, virgin plastic was partially replaced by post-consumer recyclate (PCR). The PE recyclate is embedded in a co-extruded film in the inner layer. This results in a recyclate content of 30% PCR in the overall structure, which does not impose any restrictions on the appearance and functionality of the packaging. Slight deviations from the usual appearance are desirable and can be used to communicate the sustainability aspects.

As it is a pure PE structure, it can be integrated into existing sorting and recycling systems. Excluding the printing ink, it is almost 100% recyclable. A very good example of sustainability in action!
