Wittenbrink will become the new COO of the Fiege Group in July 2026 and will be responsible for operations at more than 130 locations worldwide. The 47-year-old has been with the company for more than 23 years and most recently headed the Transport Germany, Tec & Customs division.

Wittenbrink will lead the COO division on an interim basis alongside Scherbel until September 30, 2026. Afterward, following 14 years on the Executive Board and a total of 35 years at Fiege, Scherbel will hand the reins to his successor and remain closely associated with the company as Chief Representative.

Jens Fiege, who co-leads the family business as co-CEO alongside his cousin Felix Fiege, says: “We are deeply grateful to Peter Scherbel. Since 1991, he has played a pivotal role in shaping our family business in various positions and has been instrumental in its further development through his entrepreneurial vision.” Felix Fiege explains: “In Stephan Wittenbrink, we have found an ideal successor who will further develop the COO division with a clear focus on operational excellence.”

Scherbel himself says: “35 years is a long time. I am very grateful for the trust I have enjoyed—and continue to enjoy—at Fiege, and I am proud of what we have achieved together.” Wittenbrink looks ahead with optimism: “My focus is on embedding operational excellence even more firmly within the company, making successful solutions scalable, and thereby strengthening our sustainable growth.”
