New election and repositioning
Harm Sievers manages GETO
The Group of European TransEurasia Operators and Forwarders (GETO) will in future be headed by Harm Sievers. The Annual General Meeting elected the former GETO Board member to the new position.
Sievers is Managing Director of Mukran Port, a member of the GETO association. His predecessor Hans Reinhard, who served as President for six years, retired due to time constraints. However, he will continue to be available to GETO in an advisory capacity.
GETO had previously presented a position paper to its members, according to which the association sees itself as a neutral representative of interests and point of contact in Europe for companies that offer guaranteed transport services in intermodal transport between Europe and Asia. To this end, the association is to serve more strongly as a network builder and partner for political organizations and establish itself as a platform for the exchange of experience, ideas and contacts for its members and other interest groups active in this field.
"We don't want to leave the market to a few monopolies. It is the wish of all companies involved in rail transport between Europe and Asia to ensure greater transparency and market diversity," said Hans Reinhard, former President of GETO.
GETO's declared aim is to work even harder for the development of existing and future transport services, including more cross-modal solutions in Europe and the equalization of existing corridor services in Europe. At the same time, further services and connections between Asia and Northern, Central and Western Europe are to be promoted.
