Order-picking technology
Thumbs up to acknowledge
With Pick-by-Motion, the SAP EWM general contractor IGZ is presenting an alternative to conventional picking processes that requires comparatively little investment and is based on an intuitive operating concept. The application works according to the principle of smartphones

familiar gesture control using hand signals. Applied to intralogistics, this means that the gripping movements of the order picker at his workstation are continuously monitored by a three-dimensional camera. The SAP EWM system receives all the necessary triggers for picking goods from source load carriers or accessing target load carriers without contact and controlled only by simple gestures. "Thumbs up" confirms the completion of a picking process. "Thumbs down" reduces the picked quantity. Buttons, light indicators and voice input are no longer required.

Pick-by-motion in use
Gesture control with SAP EWM is proving its worth in productive use at Krones AG in Neutraubling near Regensburg. There, the world market leader in process, filling and packaging technology uses the pick-by-motion system from IGZ for component picking.
