Successful eCMR test
Gruber Logistics tests electronic consignment note in Italy
The electronic consignment note(eCMR) has been in use in Italy since the end of last month. The logistics service provider Gruber Logistics took part in a successful test of the application a few days before the eCMR came into force on September 26.
From Gruber Logistics ' warehouse in Padua to the port in Trieste, a consignment of pharmaceuticals destined for Turkey was handled with legal certainty using electronic documentation. All shipment data could be tracked in real time and, thanks to the cooperation of all IT systems, the electronic documentation of the processes was successfully guaranteed.
Advantageous for optimizing logistical processes
Martin Gruber, CEO of Gruber Logistics, who was involved in the development of the electronic consignment note and its introduction on the Italian market, emphasizes the importance of the eCMR introduction. "The port of Trieste has already come a long way in this respect. However, we believe that the introduction and use of the eCMR can paradoxically offer further advantages in situations where the IT standard still has room for improvement. For example, it could serve as advance notice of a planned shipment in ports that are not yet ready. This could optimize logistical processes, for example through greater transparency due to improved tracking of a specific cargo."
In addition to the Gruber Logistics team in Trieste, the Autorità di Sistema Portuale del Mare Adriatico Orientale, the local port authority, the country's financial and customs authorities and companies such as Infoera and Accudire were also involved in the success of the trial transport.
