Flexible in the crisis
pfenning Group relocates parts of its warehousing due to corona
The Wirth Group, together with the pfenning Group and the town of Philippsburg, is supporting food logistics with a short-term and flexible solution so that the population can continue to be supplied.
The Wirth Group and the city of Philippsburg have decided to provide the pfenning Group from Heddesheim with flexible storage capacity on the site of the new industrial park in Philippsburg in the current exceptional situation. To this end, the Karlsruhe District Office quickly and unbureaucratically issued an exceptional permit for the corresponding use.
The pfenning Group has to free up storage space in its multicube Rhein-Neckar logistics center in Heddesheim and multicupe in Monsheim for urgent food deliveries to supermarkets. Non-food items have to be outsourced for this purpose. The company can now store these in the halls of the new industrial park in Philippsburg until further notice.
"In the current crisis situation, we urgently needed storage capacity at short notice in order to quickly free up space for supplying supermarkets with food. The city of Philippsburg, the Karlsruhe District Office and the Wirth Group enabled us to do this quickly enough," explains Rana Matthias Nag, Managing Director of the pfenning Group.
Although the extension of the halls has not yet been fully completed and does not actually meet the necessary requirements for later use in the business park, Philippsburg's mayor Stefan Martus has been strongly committed to the solution.
"In the current situation, flexible and quick solutions for crisis management must take priority over standards and lengthy administrative decisions. At the moment, everyone must do their part to ensure that the impact of the pandemic on the population remains as bearable as possible," explained the mayor.
"The district administration office and the town of Philippsburg have given us exemplary support in helping the pfenning Group to make this important contribution to supplying the population over the next few weeks, for which I would like to express my thanks once again," emphasizes Andreas Wirth, Managing Director of Industriepark Philippsburg GmbH.
