Software conference
Ortec roundtable for logistics experts
How can logistics services and sustainability be improved at the same time? What savings can be achieved in the process? These and other topics were the focus of the second Ortec Roundtable, to which the software manufacturer invited over 40 logistics experts to Bremen.
Logistics experts from the window and door manufacturer EgoKiefer, the logistics service provider Kühne + Nagel, the manufacturer of insulation materials and systems Rockwool and the industrial group Saint Gobain, among others, showed participants how improved logistics service quality can lead to lower costs and greater sustainability. They all use SAP or non-SAP-integrated optimization solutions from Ortec.
Focus on new possibilities
The migration to the new SAP S/4HANA platform and the associated opportunities for logistics process optimization for carton, pallet, cargo space and route planning were also much discussed. Ortec offered participants, as well as non-SAP users, their own workshop and provided information on the product innovation strategy, current releases and the future roadmap. To this end, Ortec partner logventus, an SAP consulting company, presented the possibilities of the SAP Extended Warehouse Management (SAP EWM) application.
Joint research project presented
Keynote speaker Professor Michael Freitag explained which digital services can be used to design agile supply chains. The head of the Bremen Institute for Production and Logistics BIBA presented a joint research project involving the industrial group Bosch and the service provider BLG Logistics, among others.
"We want to be measured by savings," emphasized Ortec Managing Director Stefan Huntemann and was pleased that the participants were able to take home many answers not only from the practical presentations, but also from the individual discussions with each other.
