Seifert Logistics Group presents new logistics center Ulm North

The Seifert Logistics Group (SLG) celebrated the opening of its newly built logistics center in Ulm. With a festive customer event on November 18 and an employee and family party on November 19. More than 350 guests and 800 employees and their families came together at the Ulm North Logistics Center to toast the company's success story.

The largest single project in the company's history: the construction of a logistics center with a direct connection to the A8 freeway and the container terminal in Ulm on an area of approx. 90,000 square meters. With the relocation of operations, Seifert is bringing one kilometer of warehouse space to the freeway at the new location and creating space for more than 100,000 pallets and block storage facilities. The new headquarters was built on the roof of the logistics center to save space and thus at a height of 22 meters in order to provide as much logistics space as possible for existing and new customers. The remaining roof area is equipped with a photovoltaic system that generates 5.5 MWp of electricity. This corresponds to enough production to supply all 45 of the logistics company's locations. By using solar power, SLG is helping to protect the environment. The electricity generated covers all of the logistics center's own requirements, from light and geothermal energy to the electric charging stations for industrial trucks, lorries and cars and, in future, for the production of hydrogen.

Customer event at the Ulm North Logistics Center

Together with around 350 guests, including customers, partners, friends and family, the Seifert Logistics Group kicked off the anniversary weekend on November 18, 2022 with the grand opening of the logistics center. Among the participants were Minister Marion Gentges and Lord Mayor of Ulm Gunter Czisch. As part of the celebrations, Harry Seifert was honored for his outstanding entrepreneurial lifetime achievement with the presentation of the Business Medal of the State of Baden-Württemberg.

The highlight event opened with an anniversary show that interpreted the past 75 years in artistic form. This was followed by the presentation of the immense construction project, during which the logistics company opened its doors and gave guests an insight into the world of logistics, from electric trucks and drones to robotics and 3D printing. During the joint tour, the guests were able to form their own impression of the ultra-modern Seifert office world. To immortalize the success story of the past 75 years for customers and future generations, a Seifert company chronicle was presented as an exciting experience book. The official part of the event ended with a look into the future of the Seifert Logistics Group.

"I am delighted that the completion of the new building for the 75th anniversary has gone according to plan, despite the current difficult delivery situation," says Harry Seifert, Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Seifert Logistics Group. "I already had a vision for this location 20 years ago. This has been topped once again with the new headquarters, the open-space office and a fitness studio for all employees," says Seifert. The Seifert office world is divided into open-plan work and lounge areas as well as creative workspaces and combines a state-of-the-art work concept with homely wooden details that create an inviting atmosphere and reflect the values of the family business. The company restaurant "Franzl", named after company founder Franz Xaver Seifert, provides a balanced diet at restaurant level with its own kitchen.

Employee and family party

The celebrations continued on Saturday, November 19. This time with more than 800 employees at a joint family afternoon. After the Seifert Logistics Group had already celebrated the first parties in Leipzig, Karlsruhe and Poland in the anniversary year, the party in Ulm marked the end of the anniversary celebrations.

Musical entertainment was provided by Martin Heer. At the same time, the younger guests were treated to a bouncy castle, various children's games and sweets. The afternoon was used to show the family around their own workplace. The management thanked the staff for their commitment and loyalty. "With the new headquarters, we want to actively break old habits and show how innovative and attractive the logistics industry is," explains Axel Frey, CEO of the Seifert Logistics Group. "We are growing very strongly and are always on the lookout for new colleagues, so we have to offer something in return and we have really set a high standard here," says Frey.
