Mader expands contract logistics
Logistics specialist Johann Mader is further expanding its contract logistics business area for customers in the automotive sector.
Since the beginning of this year, Mader operational has been working for its new customer TE Connectivity in the area of procurement and production logistics. At its headquarters in Ansbach, Franconia, the company has moved into a new logistics facility with an area of 10,000 square meters and a total of 16,000 pallet spaces.
With a storage capacity of several thousand pallet spaces, the contract with TE Connectivity Germany covers the logistics of raw materials as well as semi-finished and finished goods for production. Some of these materials are used as components for hybrid and electric vehicles in the context of e-mobility. The agreement also includes the connection to the SAP system and the retrieval of end products from the original equipment manufacturer (OEM). Mader has also developed a shuttle concept for TE Connectivity as part of the transportation solution and runs several times a day in fixed time slots between the three sites in Ansbach, Woert and Speyer.
"With the start of operations for TE Connectivity, we have increased the number of jobs at our main location in Ansbach alone to up to 200. We want to continue to grow, especially in our regional target market between Nuremberg, Heidelberg and Stuttgart - both in the area of intelligent logistics for industry and in the fulfillment segment for e-commerce," explains Matthias Irion, Managing Partner of Johann Mader.
Today, the family-owned company employs almost 400 people, including its own IT department with system administrators and software developers for the warehouse management system as well as a consulting team. Mader currently manages various single and multi-user logistics properties at ten locations. The traditional medium-sized company Johann Mader was founded in 1873 and has been supporting large corporations in the automotive segment with comprehensive logistics concepts for decades. These include inbound and outbound logistics, JIT/JIS production supply, returnable logistics and container management including container and parts cleaning, value-added services and forwarding services, some of which have their own fleet of vehicles.
"We are delighted that TE Connectivity has decided to work with Mader," comments Jürgen Behr, who is responsible for business development at Mader. In addition to the automotive sector, Mader is a solution finder for B2C online stores and industrial companies. As a fulfillment service provider, the company provides tailor-made e-commerce concepts from the acceptance of the first order to proper packaging and the reliable processing of returns. This also includes refurbishing old devices such as cell phones and returning them to the product cycle.
