Kuehne+Nagel extends partnership with Team Malizia

Building on their partnership, Boris Herrmann's Team Malizia and Kuehne+Nagel are extending their commitment for a further five years, including the Ocean Race 2022/23 and the Vendée Globe 2024/25. Herrmann's sporting performance culminated in a fifth place in this year's Vendée Globe, generating great excitement and media coverage in Germany, France and many other countries around the globe.

The partnership will continue to focus on marine research and education as well as joint actions around CO2 transparency and CO2 reduction. The promotion of fuels based on renewable energies complements the joint agenda. Team Malizia's mission is to promote ocean science and environmental education around the world. At the same time, touchpoints and events will be organized along the race stops where companies can share sustainability initiatives and create opportunities for interaction with local schools, scientists and the public.

In addition to Kuehne+Nagel, Hapag-Lloyd, MSC, Zurich Group Germany, Yacht Club de Monaco and others will join the joint Race for the Future to support Team Malizia's activities. All partners unite behind a common mission to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Team Malizia's "A Race We Must Win" movement, which is about raising awareness of climate action (SDG 13) as one of the most pressing challenges of our time.

"We are all in this together in a race against time to find solutions to the climate crisis. That's why we want to highlight some of the industry solutions our partners are working on to inspire a shared vision and advocate for ever more ambitious action. The partnership with Kuehne+Nagel is about being an emotional role model and ambassador who can report authentically, as Kuehne+Nagel's Seaexplorer visualizes the CO2 emissions of ocean freight ships worldwide and enables customers to choose the service with the lowest CO2 emissions," explained Boris Herrmann.

Otto Schacht, Member of the Management Board of Kuehne + Nagel International AG, responsible for Seafreight, said: "It is a scientifically proven fact that the health of the oceans is ultimately important for humanity. As part of our corporate identity, Kuehne+Nagel strives for a sustainable future. Environmental protection through CO2 transparency and reduction is one of our company's major Net Zero Carbon goals. We look forward to continuing this journey with Team Malizia to raise awareness and drive a sustainable future."
