Home Delivery: Gebrüder Weiss breaks the million mark
The booming online trade is causing a record high in the Home Delivery division at Gebrüder Weiss: according to projections, the transport and logistics service provider is expected to record around 1.1 million shipments in Austria and Eastern Europe this year.
This corresponds to an increase of 24% compared to the previous year (2018: 885,000). With 385,000 shipments in Austria, Gebrüder Weiss once again confirms its market leadership there, according to the company. "The current figures show that our service has been well received. Most orders in the year were again placed on days such as Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Since then, we have had significantly more shipments to transport than in previous months. We expect this trend to continue until Christmas," says Martin Treffer, Product Manager Home Delivery at Gebrüder Weiss. With its home delivery service, the transport and logistics provider delivers household appliances, furniture and consumer electronics ordered online directly to the end consumer's home.
"We are not only the market leader in Austria, but are also expanding our market share in Eastern Europe," says Treffer. The two strongest Eastern European countries are Slovakia and the Czech Republic with 165,000 and 140,000 shipments this year. Gebrüder Weiss is also achieving increasing market shares with Home Delivery in Hungary, Croatia, Serbia and Romania and counts well-known international mail order companies and furniture stores among its customer base. The positive trend is set to continue in the coming year.
