Groundbreaking ceremony: Logistics depot in Witten

Witten, 11.06.2018 - Garbe Industrial Real Estate GmbH is developing a new logistics depot in Witten together with the international retail and logistics service provider Hermes Germany. Construction work officially began last Monday with a symbolic ground-breaking ceremony.

The 5,000 square meter distribution center will handle Hermes shipments in the future and deliver them to end customers within a radius of around 50 kilometers. What is particularly interesting is that a large part of this will be carried out using electric vehicles. Hermes Germany was won over to the Witten site by its central location.

"The commissioning of the depot is part of a comprehensive future program with which we want to accelerate parcel delivery and align our infrastructure for additional growth," says Romanus Vallieri, General Area Manager Cologne at Hermes Germany.

In September, construction will begin on another 21,000 square meter hall on the same site, which is scheduled for completion in June next year. It has not yet been decided which company will rent the property. Talks are currently being held with potential tenants.
