Gebrüder Weiss expands its Caucasus hub

Tbilisi (Georgia), 14.08.2018 - The freight forwarding company Gebrüder Weiss is expanding its branch in the Georgian capital Tbilisi. Since entering the market in 2013, it has developed into the central hub for Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. Thomas Moser, Director and Regional Manager Black Sea / CIS at Gebrüder Weiss explains:

"This gives us one of the most modern logistics terminals in the region, combined with years of knowledge of the transport routes."

The Georgian economy recorded a growth rate of around 5 percent in 2017. Since entering the market in 2013, the volume of shipments handled by the freight forwarding company's branch has increased by around 20 percent annually, which means that the logistics terminal is running out of capacity. Gebrüder Weiss is therefore investing around EUR 2.5 million in the new logistics facility, which comprises 2,000 m² of cross-docking and 6,000 m² of open space. A new office building (300 m²) is also being built. The opening is planned for the end of 2018. mm
