Lauterach, 15.05.2018 - Wolfgang Niessner (63, pictured) has been at the helm of the international logistics group Gebrüder Weiss since 2005. As announced by the company's Supervisory Board, Wolfgang Niessner will retire as planned on December 31, 2018.

"Wolfgang Niessner has developed Gebrüder Weiss in every respect," says Caspar Einem, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Gebrüder Weiss. "His era is characterized by consistent professionalization and intelligent expansion."

Under his direction, the company, whose roots go back to the 15th century, has almost doubled in many areas. In 2004, Gebrüder Weiss had a turnover of 700 million euros, today it is 1.55 billion. The number of locations has increased from 102 to 150. The number of employees has risen from around 3,500 to over 7,000. "Wolfgang Niessner has proven to be an absolutely worthy successor to Heidi and Paul Senger-Weiss and is handing over a healthy company that presents itself worldwide as a quality provider in all logistics disciplines. With its service portfolio and strong team spirit, the company is absolutely fit for the future. Wolfgang Niessner deserves the highest recognition from the Supervisory Board and all Gebrüder Weiss employees for these outstanding achievements," says Caspar Einem.

Wolfgang Niessner will step down from his position as Chairman of the Management Board and CEO of the Land Transportation division at the end of the year. It is planned that Wolfgang Niessner will strengthen the Supervisory Board of Gebrüder Weiss in the coming year and thus remain with the company.

Wolfram Senger-Weiss becomes new Chairman of the Management BoardWolfgang Niessner's successor as Chairman of the Management Board is no stranger: From January 2019, Wolfram Senger-Weiss will be primarily responsible for the fortunes of the international logistics group. Wolfram Senger-Weiss has also been a member of the Management Board at Gebrüder Weiss since 2005 and is responsible for the Finance, Legal, Purchasing, Real Estate, HSEQ, Internal Audit and M&A departments. "Wolfram Senger-Weiss was involved in all of the company's key strategic initiatives during the entire Niessner era. We are convinced that Mr. Senger-Weiss will lead this company through the numerous challenges of our time and secure Gebrüder Weiss a sustainable place among the world's outstanding logistics companies," says Caspar Einem. Wolfram Senger-Weiss has been President of the Austrian Central Association for Forwarding & Logistics since 2012 and in this role also promotes Austria as a logistics location. Born in Vorarlberg, he lives in Vienna and regularly commutes between the Gebrüder Weiss headquarters in Lauterach, Vorarlberg, and the Vienna site. Wolfram Senger-Weiss is 47 years old, married and has three children.

Following the departure of Wolfgang Niessner, the Management Board position of Land Transport will also be reorganized. Jürgen Bauer (48), Gebrüder Weiss' Regional Manager East for many years, will be promoted to the Management Board within the division. In addition to CEP andNew Business, Peter Kloiber will continue to be responsible for the central specialist areas of IT Services, Human Resources Development, Brand Management & Communication, Logistics and Research & Development. Heinz Senger-Weiss is responsible for the Air & Sea, Sales and Customs divisions. "The Supervisory Board is very satisfied with the development of the company overall," says Caspar Einem. "We are therefore delighted that four proven managers will continue to be on the Management Board from next year, who have contributed a great deal to the success of recent years and have long proven that maintaining the special working atmosphere, which many describe as the Orange Family, is important to them." red
