Dorothea von Boxberg becomes the new head of Lufthansa Cargo

Peter Gerber moves to Brussels Airlines as CEO with effect from March 1, 2021 and takes over the newly created role of Chief Representative of the Lufthansa Group in Brussels. Dorothea von Boxberg succeeds Peter Gerber as Chief Executive Officer of Lufthansa Cargo AG.

Peter Gerber (56) will succeed Dieter Vranckx as CEO of Brussels Airlines. Subject to the pending decision of the Board of Directors of Brussels Airlines, Gerber will move to Belgium on March 1, 2021. Together with Nina Öwerdieck, CFO of Brussels Airlines, and Edi Wolfensberger, COO of the Belgian airline, Peter Gerber will continue the implementation of the company's "Reboot Plus" turnaround plan. In addition to managing the Belgian airline, he will also take on the newly created role of Chief Representative of the Lufthansa Group for European Affairs in Brussels and thus represent the interests of the entire Lufthansa Group at European level.

Dorothea von Boxberg is to become the new Chief Executive Officer and Chairwoman of the Executive Board of Lufthansa Cargo AG on March 1, 2021. The 46-year-old will succeed Peter Gerber. The Supervisory Board still has to approve these proposals. Gerber's appointment to Lufthansa subsidiary Brussels Airlines is part of the Group-wide rotation policy for management positions.

Peter Gerber began his career in the Lufthansa Group in 1992 and has held various management positions in the Lufthansa Group during his career. In June 2009, Gerber was appointed to the Executive Board of Lufthansa Cargo AG and was responsible for Finance and Human Resources. In June 2012, Gerber moved to the Executive Board of Lufthansa Passenger Airlines and was responsible for Human Resources, IT & Services. Peter Gerber has been Chairman of the Executive Board of Lufthansa Cargo AG since May 2014.

Dorothea von Boxberg studied industrial engineering at TU Berlin and ESCP/EAP Paris. From 1999 to 2005, she worked for the management consultancy The Boston Consulting Group in Stuttgart, most recently as a project manager. In 2005, Dorothea von Boxberg moved to Star Alliance, where she was responsible for Alliance Development. In 2007 she joined Deutsche Lufthansa AG and from 2009 headed the "Strategy and Investments" division of Lufthansa Passenger Airlines. She then took on several management positions in product management at Lufthansa Passenger Airlines. In 2015, Ms. von Boxberg moved to Lufthansa Cargo, where she initially headed the Global Sales Management division before being appointed Chief Commercial Officer of Lufthansa Cargo in 2018 and thus promoted to the Executive Board.

A successor for Dorothea von Boxberg as Chief Product and Sales Officer will be announced at a later date, Lufthansa Cargo reports.
