32 applicants from 13 countries: The Digital Logistics Award, which is presented as part of the Zukunftskongress Logistik, is more international than ever before in 2020. A jury of top-class industry experts is now evaluating the submitted business models from the fields of artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), big data, smart services and devices as well as platforms and is deciding on up to eight finalists who will be able to present their projects in a pitch at the congress on September 15.

For the fourth time, the "Future Logistics Congress - 38th Dortmund Talks", which is being held digitally for the first time this year, will provide the stage for the final of the Digital Logistics Award, one of the most highly endowed awards in the logistics start-up scene. From September 15 to 17, the presentations and discussions in Dortmund will focus on the motto "From Revolution to Transformation - With Artificial Intelligence into the Silicon Economy". High-profile representatives from science, business, large corporations, start-ups and SMEs will discuss the industry's path to an industrial platform economy: the "Silicon Economy". In this prestigious environment, the start-ups nominated for the Digital Logistics Award will present their innovations for logistics in a pitch competition.

The expert jury consists of Karolin Hewelt from the Digital Hub Agency, Claas Nieraad from the Next Logistics Accelerator, Bernd von Rosenberger from Sick AG, Dr. Stephan Peters from Rhenus AG & Co KG and Ulrich Wrage from DAKOSY Datenkommunikationssystem AG. The finalists will be announced on August 24. Participants and selected experts from the logistics community will then be able to vote for the best business idea during the congress. The three winners will be announced at a special digital awards ceremony on September 16.

Like the Future Logistics Congress, the Digital Logistics Award will be offered exclusively digitally this year, giving interested parties from all over the world the opportunity to take part in the format. In addition to numerous German teams, there are applicants from Israel, Canada, Estonia, Slovakia and Slovenia. The Digital Hub Logistics was named Best European Digital Innovation Hub last year, making it particularly attractive for international start-ups. In addition to 27 start-ups, five start-ins - digital teams from companies - were also among the applicants. The largest proportion of applicants entered the race with ideas from the areas of IoT, cloud, platform or smart devices.

The Digital Logistics Award is one of the most important awards in the logistics start-up scene. It is looking for innovative, digital logistics solutions. Whether production, retail, automotive, farm & food, mobility or the financial sector, with the Digital Logistics Award, the Digital Hub Logistics aims to recognize, honour and promote creative business models for digital working environments in logistics. The three winners will receive prize money totaling 24,000 euros and access to the network of Europe's best digital innovation hub.
