DHL employees support charitable projects

From September 16 to 29, it's that time again: Deutsche Post DHL Group is organizing "Global Volunteer Day" (GVD) and calling on its employees to get involved in volunteer work.

The GVD is now in its eleventh year. In 2018, around 123,000 employees invested more than 374,000 hours in 3,345 projects. These included implementing mentoring programs, providing aid to refugees, supporting environmental projects, creating shelters for people in need and helping young people to improve their career opportunities. Employees can contribute their diverse skills and thus make a very individual contribution to society and the environment.

Sustainability strategy: three thematic areas
The aid campaigns are linked to Deutsche Post DHL Group's sustainability strategy, which covers three areas: Environmental Protection (GoGreen), Disaster Management (GoHelp) and Improving Career Opportunities (GoTeach).

"A fulfilling experience"
"Volunteering can be both an impactful and fulfilling experience. As one of the world's largest employers, we can make a real contribution and effect change in communities around the world. That's why social engagement is firmly anchored as a core objective in our strategy," emphasizes Monika Schaller, Head of Corporate Communications and Corporate Responsibility at Deutsche Post DHL Group.

The "Living Responsibility Fund" also supports employees in the realization of their own charitable projects. It enables employees to receive financial support for the implementation. In order to achieve long-term success, employees often work together with local organizations to implement their ideas. Many of them also provide long-term support for the projects.
