Following the cooperation in the Container division with Maersk Line (Eurogate NTB North Sea Terminal Bremerhaven) and MSC (Eurogate MSC Gate Bremerhaven), this is the first joint venture in automobile handling at a BLG seaport terminal in Germany.

As part of the joint venture "BLG Glovis BHV GmbH", the shipping company Hyundai Glovis will use the BLG AutoTerminal Bremerhaven as a European hub for its automobile transports between Asia and Europe over the next few years from January 2022. Hyundai GLOVIS already uses Bremerhaven for the transportation of Hyundai and KIA vehicles as well as models from other car manufacturers, among other things. The aim of the joint venture is to bundle volumes and thus optimize the car manufacturers' logistics chains, taking into account transit times, costs and environmental influences.

"Hyundai Glovis is pursuing a clear growth strategy for which we need a trustworthy partner. BLG has proven its reliability in more than ten years of cooperation," says Tae Woo Kim, Managing Director, Hyundai Glovis Company.

Andrea Eck, Board Member for Automotive at BLG Logistics, adds: "We are very pleased to have a strong partner at our side in a difficult market environment. This secures volumes and strengthens Bremerhaven as a port location. By joining forces, we want to pursue strategic development and secure Bremerhaven's competitiveness."

Shipments by Hyundai Glovis to and from Asia currently account for around a quarter of handling at the BLG AutoTerminal Bremerhaven, which is one of the largest car ports in the world with 240 hectares and over 1.7 million vehicles handled per year. It remains open to all shipping companies as a universal port.
