Financial year 2018
BLG exceeds its targets
At the annual press conference on April 24 in Bremen, the Board of Management of BLG Logistics presented the results of the past financial year.
For 2018, the BLG Group was able to report a total turnover of EUR 1.1413 billion, an increase of 4.9 percent compared to the previous year. Frank Dreeke, CEO of BLG, was upbeat: "BLG Logistics is more stable today than ever before. We can look back on a successful financial year - with some challenges, of course, but also a lot of good news, especially when you consider the difficult and opaque political and macroeconomic conditions in many regions of the world."
Previous year and forecast exceeded
Earnings before taxes (EBT) increased by almost 12% to 37.5 million euros (previous year: 33.5 million euros). This means that both turnover and EBT exceeded the forecast. The strongest division in terms of sales revenue was Contract Logistics with around EUR 600 million in 2018. Here, BLG was able to increase sales revenue by EUR 51.4 million compared to the previous year. The company was also able to hold its own in the automotive logistics sector. The Group handled, transported or technically processed a total of 6.5 million vehicles, 3.6 percent more than in the previous year. The Container division of the BLG Group is represented by half of the shares in Eurogate. The European terminal operator group generated revenue of around EUR 604 million in the 2018 financial year. The BLG Group's share thus amounts to around EUR 302 million.
"Times remain challenging"
At the balance sheet press conference, Frank Dreeke also ventured an outlook for the 2019 financial year: "We still don't know how the British will define their relationship with the European Union, what impact possible trade sanctions will have and what uncertainty they will trigger. The economic mood has deteriorated worldwide. Times remain challenging. But we are confident that we will successfully master these times with a clever strategy, excellent employees and a good dose of passion for logistics." At the press conference, the CEO also addressed a number of BLG's current digitalization and innovation projects and commented: "I am proud that we not only show the will to digitalize, but also have the courage to simply do things and make a difference. Our customers also recognize this and perceive us as particularly automation-friendly and automation-competent - a huge compliment for BLG."
