Arvato takes over logistics and fulfillment for Fermopoint

Fermopoint, operator of a nationwide network of pick-up stations for online retailers in Italy, has outsourced logistics and fulfillment for its delivery and pick-up service to Arvato Supply Chain Solutions. In future, Arvato will control and manage all activities along the supply chain - from ordering to returns management.

The Fermopoint network comprises more than 3,400 pick-up stations for online retail throughout Italy. They are an alternative if customers are unable to receive their ordered goods at home. Customers need to register and select a nearby station as the delivery location.

"Our job begins as soon as the online order to be sent to a Fermopoint station is ready for dispatch," explains Marco Galtelli, Head of Sales and Marketing at Arvato Supply Chain Solutions in Italy. "We then store the shipments in our distribution center in Bergamo, bundle them according to destination, label them and distribute them to the respective pick-up stations."

Focus on customers

Transport control is based on a mixture of standard and express transport. Once the parcel has arrived at a Fermopoint pick-up station, the customer is automatically informed of the delivery by e-mail and text message.
