Energy and CO2 reduction technologies for logistics properties

From September 27 to 29, the specialist medium materialfluss will be hosting lectures and workshops on the topic of sustainability in intralogistics and logistics as part of the digital networking days and offering space for networking. On September 29, participants can look forward to a presentation on energy and CO2 reduction technologies for logistics properties starting at 10 am.

A logistics building lives from the operations on and in the building. A high turnover usually characterizes good business. On the other hand, this dynamic leads to high energy losses, which can be significantly reduced using suitable technologies. The path to a CO2-neutral logistics property is supported by various technical solutions. The construction and certification of buildings is already based on a large number of standards and regulations. However, an assessment of the dynamic processes involved in logistics operations remains largely unconsidered. Insulation, tightness, heat generation and ventilation concepts are already included in the building calculation, which is checked statically with the building openings closed.

During operation, temperature fluctuations in the building are generally compensated for by increasing the energy supply to the air-conditioning equipment and by ensuring that employees wear suitable clothing. Rising energy costs or increased sickness rates bring these effects to the attention of operators. With suitable measures, these effects can be significantly reduced and potential tapped. A more specific view of a logistics property therefore opens up opportunities for reduction based on knowledge of processes and conditions in logistics operations. In principle, loading points and gates are synonyms for logistics operations. Their use forms the physical interface between truck transportation, storage and discrete handling of the flow of goods. This interface protects products, secures values and leads to savings that go beyond the benefits of an insulation value.

A successful assessment of parts of a process, comparative analyses and possible reductions in operating costs through measures are known and accepted practice in many areas of business. The resulting findings lead to valuable solutions. Additional profitable investments can be justified, which also support sustainability from a business perspective. Non-energy benefits can also make a sustainable contribution to OPEX development. The solutions are modular, scalable and are already being used successfully around the world. They can be made even more efficient with IIOT solutions.

As -Program Manager ESG- he focuses on sustainable development in building technology and transportation.

The digital networking days are the digital event series of the media brands INDUSTRIAL Production, KUNSTSTOFF MAGAZIN, materialfluss, LABO and Baugewerbe. From September 27 to 29, 2022, they will be dedicated to the topic of "sustainability" with practical presentations, best practice examples and workshops.

From buzzword to indispensable asset: hardly any other industry can influence the development process towards a sustainable society as much as intralogistics and logistics. The ideas of market-relevant companies for clean, efficient and flexible "green" intralogistics are good and available - the digital networking days show the current state of affairs and present products and concepts for green logistics.
