Buyback to the Danes
Nilfisk sells outdoor business to Egholm
As announced last year, the cleaning equipment specialist Nilfisk sold its outdoor division to the Danish company Egholm on January 1. The transaction sees the successful business unit return to its original owners, from whom Nilfisk acquired the business in 2011. "We are very pleased that our customers will continue to have a strong partner at their side. With Egholm, a proven product and industry expert is taking the helm - both in terms of seamless customer support and the consistent further development of the portfolio," says Dr. Reinhard Mann, Senior Manager GAS Region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) at Nilfisk.
The decision to sell the outdoor business is the result of a systematic analysis of sustainable market potential and synergy effects between Nilfisk's individual solution areas. "We are in the midst of a transformation from a pure product manufacturer to a holistic solution provider. Our focus is on building strong consulting and process expertise in the digital future markets of our industry. We want to take a leading role in intelligent, networked cleaning and expect autonomous solutions to account for ten percent of total sales in the next five to seven years. In order to achieve this and offer our customers completely new solutions, a concentration of resources was unavoidable," continues Dr. Mann.
Continuity in production
With the sale of the outdoor division, Egholm is taking over the "2150", "2250" and "3070" product platforms. These will continue to be produced and actively developed at the Lemvig site in Denmark. The new owner will ensure the same continuity in the employment of the local workforce.
The "3500/3570" platform, which was previously manufactured in Guardamiglio, Italy, will not be continued and will probably also be sold. The competent and experienced team around former Nilfisk Outdoor boss Norbert Birkendorf will be transferred to the new Egholm GmbH based in Braunschweig.
The two brothers and Egholm managing directors Kaj and Jens Christian Egholm are delighted to be able to take over the successful product portfolio again and expand it in the long term. "The outdoor market is a highly attractive future market. We are very much looking forward to presenting our customers and the industry with innovative concepts for alternative drives and new ways of working. Our idea books are full to bursting and are just waiting to be opened and implemented," says Kaj Egholm.
