DataMan 280 series
Cognex presents new compact barcode readers
Cognex introduces the DataMan 280 series of fixed-mount barcode readers designed for a wide range of ID applications, including 1D, 2D and Direct Part Mark (DPM) code applications in manufacturing and logistics.
"Cognex specializes in decoding the most difficult barcodes with the highest speed and accuracy," said Carl Gerst, Executive Vice President of Products and Platforms at Cognex. "Optimized with our latest patented decoding algorithms, the DataMan 280 combines the advanced technology of Cognex's premium ID platforms in a compact and cost-effective package."
The DataMan 280 has a 1.6 megapixel sensor in combination with a dynamic image formation system to improve code processing and coverage. The integrated multi-core processor enables the codes read to be captured and decoded.
The modular hardware with interchangeable lights and lenses and the latest software algorithms can be configured to meet any barcode reading challenge. The DataMan 280 can be configured straight or at right angles for tight spaces and is compatible with most DataMan 260 series accessories, allowing for easy upgrades. Multiple readers can be used together for wider field-of-view applications and multi-sided scanning at high speeds.
Due to its modularity in hardware and software, the DataMan 280 is suitable for applications for reading label-based and DPM codes in a wide range of industrial environments. Examples include decoding difficult DPM codes on the surfaces of automotive parts, reading and tracking small DPM codes on medical devices or reliably reading barcodes on high-speed packaging lines. Tasks such as the simultaneous reading of several codes in the field of view, presentation scanning and the reading of label-based 1D and 2D codes on pallets behind reflective foil can also be realized with the DataMan 280.
