Innovation Check
Scientists assess IFOY finalists
Four renowned scientists from the logistics sector scrutinized the 15 IFOY finalists as part of the IFOY Innovation Check. They examined the devices and solutions from a dozen manufacturers in terms of their innovative value.
The scientists' assessment will serve as a decision-making aid for the 29 international jurors in their vote at the world's largest intralogistics competition. To guide the judges, the scientists used a five-point rating scale for their assessment - from "not available" to "less", "balanced", "good" and "very good". The quartet of researchers examined new developments from Cargometer, Clark, Combilift, Hubtex, Jungheinrich, Raymond, SAE, Still, Torwegge, UniCarriers, ProGlove and Trône Seating. Prof. Dr. Rainer Bruns, holder of the Chair of Machine Elements and Technical Logistics at Helmut Schmidt University, Guido Follert, Head of the Machines and Systems Department at the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics IML, Prof. Dr. Thorsten Schmidt, holder of the Chair of Technical Logistics at TU Dresden and Prof. Dr. Johannes Fottner, holder of the fml - Chair of Materials Handling Material Flow Logistics at TU Munich, traveled to Hanover for the one-day investigation. The research team assessed the finalists according to the criteria of market relevance, customer benefit, degree of novelty of the product and the type of implementation.
The jury members who travel to the IFOY Test Days on March 7 and 8 will receive the results of the IFOY Innovation Check together with the results of the practice-oriented IFOY test by Dutch intralogistics expert Theo Egberts. Before submitting their own assessment, the jury members will also test the finalists themselves.
