Pocket sorters provide speed
TGW hands over distribution center to Mayoral
TGW recently handed over a highly automated fulfillment center to Mayoral and successfully completed the implementation phase. Today, the Spanish fashion specialist is one of the leading international manufacturers of children's fashion. The company designs around 3,000 items of clothing every year and sells 30 million items to more than 10,000 customers. The logistics hub in Málaga, southern Spain, uses a TGW bag sorter.
The omnichannel solution is based on a TGW pocket sorter system with a throughput capacity of 12,000 units per hour. The pocket sorter is used to consolidate and sort flat and hanging goods. The solution also includes two shuttle systems - one for storage, the second as a buffer before shipping. With the 20,000 m² system, Mayoral benefits from increased flexibility, is optimally equipped for the requirements of e-commerce, can reduce its total cost of ownership and thus lays the foundation for further growth.
"With the new fulfillment center, we can adapt quickly and flexibly to the changing needs of the market and benefit from a competitive advantage," emphasizes Salvador García De-Lucchi, Technical Director at Mayoral. The completed implementation marks the start of a second project phase. The aim is to expand the warehouse capacity and the number of packing workstations in order to be able to cover the exponential growth rate in the online fashion sector.
Partnership-based cooperation
The success of the project is the result of the close cooperation between Mayoral and TGW. With the omnichannel system and its high throughput capacity, the children's fashion specialist is prepared for both the current and future needs of the fashion market. "The omnichannel solution developed by TGW supports Mayoral in transforming its supply chain. The customer appreciates the possibility to transport flat-packed and hanging garments fully automatically in parallel and to use the system as a storage or buffer system at the same time. Thus, Mayoral is prepared for the future and relies on TGW's know-how for further automation steps," emphasizes David Bendien, CEO TGW South Europe.
