Conveyor technology
MultiControl control unit with extended functionalities
The MultiControl is a multi-protocol-capable controller for the RollerDrive EC310, key elements of the modular conveyor platform (MCP) and for Pallet Drive (via Pallet Control). It offers a solution for carton, container and pallet conveying and thus creates enormous flexibility in warehousing as well as in the planning and installation of conveyor systems. It can also be used in deep-freeze environments.
With the help of MultiControl, sensors and RollerDrive are integrated directly into the fieldbus level. An additional sensor/actuator level becomes superfluous. Power is supplied via a standard ribbon cable. Two separate circuits enable the RollerDrive to be switched off safely while bus communication remains active. The PROFINET, EtherNet/IP and EtherCat protocols can be used by simply switching over.
The MultiControl can control four conveyor zones, meaning that four RollerDrive units and four sensors can be connected. Addressing and configuration is carried out using PLC software, a web browser menu or by means of the Interroll teach-in procedure, which enables the sequence of all MultiControl units in the conveyor line and the correct direction of rotation of all RollerDrives to be determined. This saves time during commissioning on site. Various process images enable the optimum solution between data diversity and PLC capacity. The MultiControl communicates with the PLC in real time (with an interval of 2 milliseconds) and is easy to handle and can be used in almost all applications.
With its extended functionalities, the MultiControl now covers a wide range of applications:
Autonomous zero pressure accumulation conveyor: A PLC and its programming is not required if the logic of the MultiControl is used
Autonomous zero pressure accumulation conveyor, but connected to a PLC. This makes it possible to visualize the entire conveyor line, as the PLC receives all sensor and RollerDrive information. If desired, the PLC can also influence the logic for zero pressure accumulation conveying.
If special logic is required, the MultiControl can be used as an input/output device (I/O). The existing logic for zero pressure accumulation conveying is then ignored. The connected PLC receives all sensor and RollerDrive information and adapts the material flow to the user's requirements by means of appropriate programming.
