The round now fits even better into the square
Extor increases the flexibility of its tire palletizer
Stacking and storing tires of different sizes sensibly, efficiently and gently: The tire palletizing system with the tire gripper from Extor GmbH was developed as part of a future-proof Automatic Warehouse System.
The company has now extended the range of its 6-axis robot. The diversification of private transport is resulting in an ever-increasing variety of tire products. Extor specializes in the automation of intralogistics and is responding to this trend with its smart storage systems. The Hanover-based company was founded in 2016 as a subsidiary of online tire retailer Delticom. In summer 2021, Managing Director Jörn von der Lippe acquired all shares together with NBank and is now expanding the automation specialist's business area.
The tire palletizer was developed for storing and stacking tires in different racks. The tire palletizer software generates the best packing pattern for the tire type and determines the number of pallets. After the tires have been transferred from an external conveyor system to the tire aligner and aligned, the 6-axis robot picks up the goods with the tire gripper and stacks them in the respective free airlock.
The design changes to the robot now significantly increase the flexibility of tire palletizing. Extor will be using the Yaskawa GP-180-120 in future. "The robot is characterized above all by a higher reach, which means that the tires can be packed even higher into the tire racks," confirms Jörn von der Lippe. The patented tire gripping tool has also been adapted to the new requirements and can now also grip tires with an inner diameter smaller than 14 inches and larger than 21 inches.
