With this in mind, Vanderlande will routinely report its greenhouse gas emissions, implement decarbonization strategies and take action to offset any remaining emissions. The company recently explored new business models that help to further reduce the_{carbon footprint} of its customers. One example of this is Fleet, an airport baggage handling solution based on autonomous vehicle technology. Through this solution, Vanderlande takes responsibility for the operational and sustainable performance of the vehicles as well as closing the material loop.

In 2018, Vanderlande joined the Capital Equipment Coalition of the Platform for Accelerating the Circular Economy (PACE). By actively defining an action plan with concrete steps for the capital equipment industry to implement circular practices, Vanderlande is extending its influence beyond its own organization.

As part of the Global Forest program, Vanderlande works with local forestry companies and plants trees to offset carbon emissions. In addition, many of the company's international subsidiaries meet the highest sustainability standards. For example, the buildings at the company's headquarters in the Netherlands will be equipped with 2,600 solar panels (with the capacity to generate 871,760 kWh annually) by mid-2021.
