Schmidt Auma sets art in motion

A museum in Bielefeld presents its exhibits in a completely new way. Schmidt Auma Lagersysteme came up with a solution that gets modern art moving. The Huelsmann Foundation Museum in Bielefeld is home to European masterpieces from the Renaissance, Baroque and Classicism periods.

The museum is housed in the former director's villa of the Ravensburg spinning mill. An extension has created space for the modern art collection. Initially only one floor was accessible, but now a total of three floors offer exhibition space. However, the heart of the building is located in the stairwell: a mobile display case creates a flowing connection between the newly established exhibition levels. The exhibits float up and down ten meters in a paternoster with 16 gondolas. The filigree structure, the gentle rotation and the overall concept designed for transparency mean that the paternoster harmonizes perfectly with its surroundings. The glass-clad paternoster was custom-made by Schmidt Auma Lagersysteme. The long-established company based in Frankfurt offers customized storage systems for use in numerous areas and sectors - whether in industry, medical technology or in cultural institutions and museums.
