Prof. Michael Henke new member of acatech
The German Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech) has accepted Prof. Michael Henke into the circle of acatech members. After Prof. Michael ten Hompel (2011) and Prof. Axel Kuhn (2012), this makes Henke the third representative of Fraunhofer IML to join acatech.
Henke holds the Chair of Corporate Logistics at the Technical University of Dortmund and is Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics IML.
New members are admitted to the German Academy of Science and Engineering by election. A high scientific reputation and the willingness to participate in acatech's thematic networks and projects are required. Only those who are proposed to the election committee by one of the Academy's members can become members. The proposal is also reviewed. If the proposal is approved by the Executive Committee and the General Assembly votes in favor, a new member is admitted.
The German Academy of Science and Engineering acatech represents the German technological sciences at home and abroad in a self-determined, independent and public interest-oriented manner. The Academy advises both politics and society in matters of technology science and technology policy. In addition, acatech's objectives include the transfer of knowledge between science and industry and the promotion of young talent in the field of science and engineering. The members of the Academy are renowned scientists from research, teaching and industry.
